Sarawak Shell Berhad Fire & Gas Mapping: About
This was a 3 + 1 years call-out contract awarded to us in 2015 to perform Fire & Gas Mapping at the onshore and offshore facilities operated by Shell Sarawak Bhd. Fire & Gas Mapping is an essential safety requirement to identify the most optimum location to install fire and gas detectors for an effective early identification of hydrocarbon release and fire.
The mapping involved employing sophisticated 3D software that could simulate gas release and fire in the facilities using complex algorithm. It produced a visual, time-variant model that could predict the most probable concentration of gas and intensity of heat-fire for further assessment to optimize best location for the fire & gas detectors. The work also involved site verification by our engineers to ensure the 3D model is accurate and the available technical drawings reflected actual installation in the facilities.
To date, we have successfully completed Fire & Gas Mapping assessment for more than 10 onshore and offshore facilities combined under this contract. The recommendations from the study suggested a few relocations of the detectors for most optimum coverage due to safety.
